Why this exists
Almost every planning spreadsheet you can buy was built in the United States. Open one and you find IRS expense categories, 1099 thresholds, a 30-year fixed mortgage and health insurance tied to an employer. For anyone in Europe, half the sheet is wrong before you type anything into it.
Threshold is the other version. Built here, around the way relocating, buying a home, having a child and leaving a job actually work across the European Union.
The rule we will not break
No country's rules are ever hard-coded.
Transfer taxes, registration deadlines, notary scales, parental leave rates and residency tests differ across 27 member states, and most change every year. A workbook that bakes those numbers in is wrong somewhere on the day it is sold, and wrong everywhere within two years.
So Threshold workbooks give you three things instead: the structure of the problem, deadlines calculated from your own dates, and a blank Country notes tab to fill from official sources. It is the honest version. It is also the version that never goes out of date.
What you are buying
A spreadsheet file. Not a subscription, not an app, not a login. It works offline, opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice or Numbers, and every formula in it is visible and editable. If you disagree with a calculation, change it.

Who is behind it
Threshold is independent and very new. There is no team, no office and no outside funding — one person builds the workbooks, writes the Notes and answers the email.
That is worth saying plainly, because it tells you what to expect. Replies come from the person who built the file. If a formula is wrong, you will be talking to whoever wrote it, and it will be fixed rather than escalated.
