Know Your Numbers

Most freelancers can tell you their day rate and almost none can tell you their actual hourly earnings on a given project, which is the number that matters. These tools close that gap. The profitability calculator tracks real hours against what you were paid and shows which clients are quietly costing you money — it is common to discover your best-paying client is your worst-paying client once revisions are counted.

The rate calculator works backwards from the income you need, the time off you want, and the hours you can actually bill, and usually produces a number higher than what you're charging. Uncomfortable reading, generally, and the most valuable thing here.
